Turkey Burgers

It’s that time of year again to strike up your grills (or grill pans) and get BBQin'. For this QuickBite, I'm making one of my all time favorite burgers...Turkey Burgers! These burgers are so yummy and satisfying you'll have everyone at your BBQ asking for seconds.

Ingredients

  • 1-1.5 lbs extra lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 white onion, chopped
  • 4 oz. button mushrooms, chopped
  • 1/4 cup kalamata olives, chopped
  • 1/4 cup basil, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of beer
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4-6 kaiser rolls
Toppings
  • 1 red onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 jar roasted red peppers, sliced
  • 2 handfuls of arugula
    • "Special Sauce"
  • 1 cup plain low fat yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp red chili sauce

    • Directions

    My Special Sauce
    1. Simply combine 1 cup of plain non fat yogurt with 1 tablespoon of red chili paste.

    Turkey Burgers
    1. In a large bowl combine ground turkey, onions, mushrooms, olives, basil, garlic powder, beer and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly before forming 4-6 burger patties.
    2. Heat grill pan over medium high heat. Place burgers on pan about an inch apart from each other. Cook for 4 minutes on each side or until burger is cooked thru.
    3. On the bottom half of your kaiser roll layer arugula, burger, roasted red peppers and sliced red onions.
    4. Spread my "Special Sauce" on top of the bun and pop on top to finish off your sandwich. Enjoy!
