Frozen Banana and Cacao Topped Yogurt
The less ingredients and the fewer step involved the better!! We're talkin', "Clean, Simple-ER, and D'lishes! So I decided to start a category I call, "Stupid Simple", and truthfully speaking these are the meals that I eat 80% of the time.
This breakfast/snack/mini-meal idea is one of the many ways I like to eat yogurt. And just like oatmeal or smoothies there are about 101 different ways you could make this. Sometimes it's more about a fresh perspective on a simple stand-by than it is an original, involved recipe or idea!
Just take my Fruit and Flax Smoothie post for instance. You guys gave me a weeks worth of smoothie ideas that I would have NEVER come up with on my own. Really, it's just about thinking outside the box!! (Top notch chef I may not be. A girl that loves to come up with simple, d'lishes ways to use nutritious ingredients, I am!)
If you haven't tried the plain, fat-free, Greek style yogurt yet, you really should. It's super rich and creamy and doesn't come with all the added sugars that fruit flavored yogurts come with. (I promise, I don't care how much added fruit or sugar you decide to add to your yogurt, chances are you will never use as much sugar as the manufacturer would... so remember, always buy plain and ditty it up yourself!)
Oh, and the frozen banana... I'm addicted!! Literally just peel and cut a banana in half then pop it in the freezer unti it's frozen... SO GOOD!! You can eat them mixed into yogurt, cottage cheese, smoothies, with peanut butter... whatever floats your boat, I promise the frozen banana does not dissapoint!
So c'mon, I can't be the only one enjoying "assembly-only" meals these days! What kind of "Stupid Simple" dishes do you find yourself turning to? Feel free to share them in the comments, afterall, we could all use some clean, simpl-ER and D'lishes ideas!

Yummmmm!
Since you asked...I like to throw a little grape tomato, cucumber chunks and sunflower seeds into cottage cheese for a snack. I might even go wild & put a little dollop of ranch dressing on top! :)

Megan - Thanks for sharing... that sounds really good. I always tend to go sweet when it comes to cottage cheese (ie. fruit or jelly), so I'm gonna have to go outside my box and give your suggestion a try!

Lazy dinner: Today is very hot in Northern California, in the high 90s. I'm lazy, but want to eat something healthy. I'm happy just smashing a whole avocado with lime and sea salt. Spreading it on two crisp-toasted 100% whole grain bread (I love Costco Kirkland 100% multi-grain bread with 5 to 6 fiber per bread. So satisfying and filling...and clean eating. Sometimes I sprinkle chopped sun-dried tomatoes and/or kalamative olives on top of the avocado spread. That's good too!
Lazy breakfast. I cook enough oatmeal (rolled oats or steel-cut oats) and portion for 5 days. In the morning, I slice up some fresh bananas and place it in a bowl. I add a tablespoon or two of frozen wild blueberries on top of the sclied bananas. I take out one portion of the oatmeal from the fridge and add to the bowl of sliced bananas and blueberries. Place a paper towel on top of the bowl and microwave for about 2 to 2:15 minutes. Stir oatmeal then add 1/2 cup or more of unsweetened soymilk. Sprinkle with a few chopped toasted nuts on top and/or toasted usweetened coconut. Again...very satisfying and good clean eating.

Amy - It's a good one... I promise! Hope you like it:).
D - Sometimes it's the simplest foods that just hit the spot! I love avocado spread on Wasa crisps, I'll have to try it with some olives! And your oatmeal combo sounds good too! Mamking the oats ahead is a huge help... I try to do that at the beginning of the week too:). Thanks for sharing your clean eat ideas!!

kaman :
is greek yogurt really sour? I tried buying plain yogurt before and I really disliked the sour taste.

Dani :
Kaman - It is a bit tart, definitely not sweet like flavored yogurts. But if you just add your own sweetner (honey, agave, maple syrup or even splenda) it's SO good and really creamy.

Thank you so much for suggesting frozen banana! I never would have thought to do that. You're right...it really is delicious with yogurt. And I like to eat bananas half at a time anyway, so you've just given me a great idea for what to do with the spare half--freeze it!

Most of the time I love complex and involved recipes either on video or illustrated with glossy pictures like the ones where Julia Child would go at it for hours with fresh ingredients and would involve a butchers knife. Then I would go ahead and fix myself a Ramen. So please keep the elaborate dishes coming. haha :)
