"A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose"

Being that this book is an Oprah Book Club selection many of you may have heard of it already and have possibly read it yourselves. I bought this book several months back but just didn't get the chance to dive in until recently. This is not meant to be a book review, simply a recommendation. Eckhart Tolle's, "A New Earth" has been so instrumental to me that I simply wanted to share it with you and encourage any and all of you who may be interested to give it a read.
I believe my purpose in life is to help others learn about and enjoy delicious nutritious foods in order to help them feel better on a day to day basis and live the best life that they possibly can. I also know that my desire reaches beyond the simple facts about food.
I have a very strong connection to food not only because I enjoy cooking, teaching and eating it but because it is my personal struggles with food that have provided me the opportunity to explore myself on deeper levels. I know now that food was never my problem, it was the issues that rested deeper down below the surface that would manifest themselves through the food.
Anytime, anyone struggles with food on any level, I can assure you that in some avenue of your life their is a lack of nourishment, fulfillment or joy that is trying to get your attention.
For instance, I know for myself if I am feeling stressed or anxious about a situation instead of sitting with the discomfort of the moment I often turn to food as an unconscious source of instant-feel-good-gratification. lt's my way of escaping the discomfort of whatever the moment at hand has to offer.
So I have learned that trying to micro manage my food choices is just my way of trying to gain control in one area of my life when I feel like I may not have control in another. This my friends is a life long process for me, it's is my day to day reminder to stay present.
In Eckhart Tolle's, "A New Earth", he talks about being present and conscious in each moment without resistance and clearly explains how our egos can lead to believe things that simply are not true. Ultimately this book is about creating your own personal happiness (and who's doean't want that?).
Needless to say, I am a work in progress and it is books like this one that bring me the clarity I seek in order to continue to help myself and others when it comes to food and living! This is really a very powerful book and I would recommend it to to anyone and everyone (and so would Oprah;)).
